Decorating with Potted Plants

Several years ago, we began collecting potted plants and now I just can't imagine life without them. Indoor plants add life, color, and contrast to any room. Just look at how we've incoporated them into the last several places we've rented to help us feel at home:

Our first post-college rental. And the plant obsession begins...

Our second condo, a two bedroom with vaulted ceilings! Oh, the possibilities. Did we go overboard? Naaaah.

Then somehow we scored this beach house a stones throw from the water. Must add plants!

For an extra dramatic effect, we added uplights behind some of our plants to create interesting shadows and mood lighting:

Back into an apartment and loving it.

So many memories and so many plants. Fortunately both get to come with us to our next place.

See how plants add that missing punch of color to this neutral pallete from Apartment Therapy:

And DesireToInspire has some great examples of how to feature large plants in any room of the house:

If you're interested about getting information on my favorite indoor plants or how to care for indoor plants, send me an email or leave a comment with your contact info!

Your plants look so healthy and vibrant, I love it! I found your blog via the tote tute on Curbly. I'm so glad I did-you have a gorgeous space here! I'd love to link to your tank tote if you didn't mind.

I have vaulted ceilings in my new place. As far as decor goes, I'm a bit stumped, but I recently decided that plants would add a lot to one difficult corner. However, I need some advice on best indoor species that grow tall and are also low maintenance... any advice?
Oh and I LOOOVE the lamps you have that are arched with the paper shades... where did you ever find those?

Hi Emily. The lamps are from Cost Plus World Market, but we bought them a few years back, but I bet you can get something similar.

As far as plant recommendations go, I had to ask my resident expert (my husband):
Bright Light: Fiddle leaf Ficus, Fishtail Palm
Medium Light: Dracaena family, Schefflera

Have fun!

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any
widgets I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my
newest twitter updates. I've been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping maybe you would have some experience with something like this. Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to your new updates.
